Description: Four images of this 96-year-old first edition are shown below. It is beautifully-illustrated by Gustaf Tenggren, illustrator of "Poky Little Puppy", perhaps the best-selling hardcover children's book of all time. Although the illustrations are in Fine condition, the book is in overall Fair-Poor "as is" condition only. It is: Dickey Bird, by Elizabeth Woodruff, Published by Milton Bradley Company, 1928, first edition, which measures 12" x 9" and is 146 pages. There are eighteen, full-page illustrations by Gustaf Tenggren. Six are tipped-in and in color with no chips or creases at the corners (i.e., please see the first two images below); twelve are line drawings (e.g., image #3). (Tenggren also has done two, smaller illustrations on preliminary pages.) The endpapers are fully-decorated in two colors. The publisher "counted" several early pages in the pagination, so, the first text page, which begins with "...Once there was a little boy...", is considered page 13; along these lines, the frontispiece, adjacent to the title page, is listed as being on page 4 on the illustrations page. Regarding condition, several pages are detached but present, there are a few large chips (one of which does reach a few lines of text), the spine is wobbly, etc. This book will be shipped in a solid new box anywhere in the United States via USPS Media Mail for free.
