Description: Gretsch 7628 CommitteeSerial #:12-7031December 1977 This guitar is in great condition. I can tell you about it from the point of view of a bass player. Everything works perfectly, it has good action, the frets are excellent, it's very quiet, the pickups are strong, and the body and neck are in excellent condition. I received it as a gift in 1982, but quickly decided I wanted to play bass, so it has been in its case unused (for the most part) for 40+ years. It is in the same condition as it was when I bought it. I cleaned it up and changed the strings, but really it just had a bit of a haze over it that needed some cleaning off. It has a couple of small nicks here and there (see photos), the 2 volume knobs logos have wear, and there are a few small (what appear to be screw) holes around the body and headstock (see photos). They seem to be filled with epoxy, maybe. They are all under the finish. A couple are behind the tailpiece (different tailpiece at some point?), some around the pick-ups (I believe there were pickup mounting rings on it once, as when I got it there were 2 pickup rings in the case), and 4 little holes after the nut like a little plaque was screwed onto the headstock. All the holes are practically unnoticeable unless you are looking for them. From looking at other Committees I am sure everything is original except that the toggle switch had to be changed by the store shortly after I bought it because it was faulty. But the original toggle switch cover was unscrewed and put on the new switch. I'm sure it could use a good setup because it never has been professionally setup since I bought it. Sorry. The case is in excellent functional condition, there is some tolex wear, but the case itself is very sturdy. I will pack it carefully for shipping. Below is a link to a video of the guitar. Sorry that it is not great quality, it's just to demonstrate that all the guitar components (pickups, toggle switch, volume and tone controls) are working. It's played through a mixer and stereo speaker (hence the bland tone). There are a lot of great reviews (and clearer, more musical descriptions than I can give) of the guitar online if you do a search. Please contact me with any questions. Thanks!
