Description: From the Estate of T.S. Ferree, local commercial artist, art studio & advertising art production company. Mounted on illustration board over matte black background with clear plastic protective overlay. This plastic is 40+ years old, and has yellowed and taken the dirt and abuse of those 40+ years. The art underneath is very clean. From what I've been told, this is probably an offset print. On Illustration Board, the art itself measures 11 x9". Signature in print looks like "J. Berry or Beury '77" Local pickup in Raleigh NC is available, & free.Thaddeus S. Ferree Jr. was a commercial artist, graphic designer and advertising executive based in Raleigh, N.C. He was born circa 1922 near Ashboro, N.C. and educated at N.C. State College & the American Academy and Art Institute of Chicago. During World War II he served as Consultant on Health Education for the Surgeon General, producing printed materials on tropical and venereal diseases. In 1947 he opened the Ferree School of Art which he operated until 1953. Ferree Studios (years unknown, but definitely open during the mid- 1970's) served primarily advertising agencies in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Lots of famous artists worked in this agency such as James Keith Birdsong, (Andrej?) Krystoforski, Walt Obman, Roger Brantley, Susan Fender, Chris Mueller, Bob Ranew, Pete Turner and more. Mr. Ferree passed away in 1990.
