Description: Here is a charming, vintage, hand-crafted retablo by famed Peruvian artist Nicario Jiménez. It features a scene of a weaving group complete with a pair of gossiping alpacas and an Andean Condor swooping down from above. On the inside of the two doors are painted a stylized blossoming potato plant, and a stalk of maize. This is an earlier work by Jiménez as seen by the finer modeling and more muted colors than many of his later pieces. It is signed on the reverse. It measures (with doors closed) 6 inches wide, by 5- 1/8inches high, and is 2- 1/4 inches deep. With the doors open (on leather hinges) it measures a full 12- 1/4 inches wide. This piece is in excellent, used vintage, condition with no damage or repairs. Just some gentle scuffing and wear to the exterior consistent with its age and use. Otherwise it is clean and bright with detailed modeling and painting.
