Description: Matte proof coins were made for photographic purposes, as regular coins had weird reflections when taking pictures to publish the pictures of the newly issued coins. Thus issues of 1937, 1951 and 1953 exist as Matte Proof issues in very small numbers. Some sources quote 16 sets made, some quote 16 for the crown and fewer for the minor coins. This is only ever the second 1/2 penny I have seen on the market in the past 20 years (A complete set was solg by Goldberg's in 2012). NGC have graded this coin PF62 RB MATTE. The coin is beautiful and as struck with no hairlines - it is a mystery to us why this coin is not at least a 64-65 level. We accept returns of third party graded items only if there has been a mistake in identification of the item by PCGS/NGC. We will not accept returns based on their opinion of grade or similar. We combine shipments for auctions ending the same day. For items orders over USD 500, shipping with express mail (usually about USD 25-50) or Fedex at actual cost (usually about USD50-60). *IMPORTANT SHIPPING NOTICE* Due to the ongoing virus situation shipping may be unavailable by registered airmail, which means using express mail or Fedex may be needed for timely delivery - both which incur higher shipping fees than "standard international shipping" (meaning registered mail) listed in this listing.
