" - Native American Indian & Horse ' Box Label ' Design !!! : Summer Tour '95 ! : July 3, 1995 ( 7/3/95 : 7/3/1995 ) - Deer Creek Amphitheatre - Noblesville, Indiana ( IN ) : 1995 Grateful Dead Productions, Inc. ( GDP ) - Vintage Original ( Genuine / Authentic ) : The Historic ' Scheduled ' & " Cancelled ! " Deer Creek Indiana G.D. Show ! : Very-Rare !!!!!! Grateful Dead Fans !!! who Collect the Rare ! & the ' Significant ' !! ... well, here indeed is a Rare Collector's piece that truly stands alone. Offered here is the Vintage Original ( Genuine / Authentic ) Grateful Dead Backstage Pass ( sticker-patch / satin ) for the Scheduled & " Cancelled " July 3, 1995 ( 7/3/1995 ) Show at the Deer Creek Amphitheatre in Noblesville, Indiana ( IN ) ! This is a Backstage Pass from the Last & Final Tour of the Grateful Dead ! ... the 1995 Summer Tour !! The Artwork itself was designed & issued by the American Lithograph Co. in New York in the late 1800's - with this particular design being copyright dated in 1899 ! Artwork that was originally-designed for American Cigar Box Labels - over 115+ years ago ! With, this particular Backstage Pass being issued by the Grateful Dead in 1995 - close to 100 years ( 96 years exactly ) after it's initial use ! Very-cool, for certain. And this particular Pass, well - it indeed has quite the story. While the Grateful Dead were in the midst of their Final 1995 Summer Tour ( unknown at the time though - obviously ... ) - they had Fifteen ( 15 ) Back East & Midwest Tour Dates scheduled ... but, only ended up performing Fourteen ( 14 ) of these scheduled Concerts ... with this 7/3/1995 Show at the Deer Creek Amphitheatre being of course - the Show that never-happened. The Dead played on 7/2/1995 at Deer Creek - however it was due to the most-unfortunate of unfortunate circumstances that this next night ... 7/3/1995 never ever happened. With the reason being ? ... " Gate-Crashing " by some ' supposed ' Grateful Dead Fans. While the Ticketless Hoards of Fans crashed the Deer Creek fence - in a very sad collective group effort - right while the Band was playing " Broken Arrow " ... the Dead called it quits on performing on this very next night ... 7/3/1995. The Venue wasn't going to tolerate such brute entitled-type behavior - and neither were the Grateful Dead. And plus ... the rear gate of the Deer Creek Amphitheatre was officially ' out of commission ' - and was in dire need of immediate repair !?! I mean that was just how serious this situation was. So, the Dead just moved on to the Riverport Shows in Missouri - and ended up playing only Four ( 4) more Shows ' Ever ' ! - right on this '95 Tour ... in their entire 30-Year Career. This situation always made me feel quite sad, because I felt like the Fans as a whole never truly had the opportunity to really ' redeem ' themselves for the Band - by showing some immediate ' Good ' behavior. With only 4-Shows left - these Fans truly left a stale taste for the Band & Grateful Dead community ... including Jerry Garcia - who's untimely passing just a little over a month later really-really stung ... and still does today - big time. So, I personally think there is some real irony here with this one - a very pretty G.D. Pass design - with an excellent Native American design - but ... this Dead Show never happened ? And why ?? See what I mean here ? Wow. It is not too often in American Live Rock & Roll History that incidents this serious occur - though they can obviously ... but usually at a Metal - Punk Rock - Hard Rock Concerts ... but at a Grateful Dead Show ? So unusual ... But, if you ask me what Venue I might ' think ' this could happen at ? Well ... no joke, as I would have definitely ! said " at Deer Creek ". This was a nice plush place - and the back fence was pretty low. The Event Staff even strangely let some cars park right next to it. .. and one jump - and you are over & in ! This is an observation that my Touring Buddy & I made during the '92 Shows - and, I never forget that view that we saw - never. And, another thing ... because Deer Creek was small - intimate - open-air & just really nice ! It was kind of like the " Shoreline " of the Midwest - and it was always a Tough !!! Ticket with a Capital " T " ! I was one that Toured with the Dead all that I could - every single year ... and getting shut-out on Deer Creek Mail Order Tickets from GDTS was almost expected - no kidding at all. It was a nice place for Music - and the Band obviously wanted to play there ... but, between 1989 and 1995 - the scene just got too big. Nonetheless ... disappointment in the Fans ( supposed Fans ) who were directly involved in this fiasco. And, in the rightful defense of Dead Fans in general ... well, it wasn't the ones inside with their tickets in hand that were crashing the Deer Creek fence. Nonetheless, this here is a serious piece of Rock & Roll History for all reasons ' unfortunately ' obvious ... and it so many ways, it just stands alone as " Unique " in the 30-Year Career of the Good Ol Grateful Dead !!! The Infamous Uwanta Cigar Box Label Art Pass - made for Deer Creek, but never needed ( so-unfortunately ... ) on 7/3/1995. A Pretty-Amazing ! G.D. & Rock 'n Roll Collectible for certain - and one of Native American History as well - along with American Advertising Art History too ... Enjoy !!!!!
