Description: The Grabhorn Press, San Francisco. Prospectus for the First Series of Grabhorn's Rare Americana Reprints. Published in 1932. Staple-bound. 12 pages, including covers. Measures about 4 1/2" x 6 3/4". This may have been a proof copy or sample run of the prospectus, because some of the pages are printed out of order and unevenly folded. The text of each page is surrounded by a border with an elaborate design printed in ochre. The piece is in nice condition, with some foxing. There are no ink names or pen/pencil notations. The text goes into some detail concerning the Diary of Johann August Sutter, John Bradford's Notes on Kentucky, and The Life and Adventures of Joaquin Murieta, the Brigand Chief of California. The other books in the series are listed as Banditti of the Plains, Fruits of Mormonism, Early Days in San Francisco, Shirley Letters vols. I and II, California as it is, and California in 1837. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Our father was a bibliophile who collected rare books, letters, and ephemera for more than 60 years.
