Description: This stunning box is gift worthy!! ABOUT THIS BOX This vintage music & jewelry box is BEAUTIFUL and it is in EXCELLENT condition. The ornate wood case was hand-crafted in Europe. It features stunning marquetry on the domed lid. The floral pattern is stunning against the rich wood back drop. The high gloss finish makes it all the more striking. The small feet gently lift the box and add to the beauty. Under the lid you will find felt-lined compartments to store your personal treasures. The box is very large, so there is ample space. The top tray is removable. The lock works and the key is included. Protected and concealed is a vintage musical movement from Thorens. Thorens was a prominent maker of music boxes from 1883 until they were purchased by Reuge in the 1980’s. This mechanism is working well. It winds up smoothly and works perfectly. The music starts and stops by lifting the lid. The tune played is by Felix Mendelssohn and was written between 1829-1845. The piece is as intricate and beautiful as the box itself: Frühlingslied — also known as Song of Spring or Songs Without Words CONDITION The case is in excellent condition. The structural condition of the box is perfect. The high gloss finish is nearly perfect, with only tiny signs of use. The jewelry compartment is also excellent with no stains or damage to the felt. Please see the pictures for beauty of this piece. The musical movement was inspected, lightly cleaned, and properly lubricated. It was cycled to ensure that it is working perfectly. The sound is very good. There are NO instances of resonance (buzzes or squawks) that can occur in vintage boxes. The sound is rich and clear.
