Description: Romantic pictorialist study of gondolas in Venice 1930 by Turin photographer Achille Bologna 1888-1956. Lovely quality. From a vintage copy of Photograms of the Year 1930. Achille Bologna was active in Turin between 1920 and 1940, in 1923 he participated in the International Exhibition of Photography, Optics, Cinematography in Turin receiving the Grand Prix diploma. Together with Stefano Bricarelli and Carlo Baravalle, who were also lawyers, in 1923, he bought "Il Corriere Fotografia" and moved its headquarters to Turin, becoming the official organ of the Piedmontese Group for artistic photography ° (the group of friends is called "the three B"). They published the “Lights and Shadows” yearbook in the years 1934 and 1935, then ceasing the publications following the restrictions on paper and the sanctions imposed on Italy. In the twenties he collaborated with some American magazines. In 1925 he participated in the First Italian Salon of International Photographic Art, then in 1928 and 1930. He participates in the Madrid Salon in 1925 and in the London Salon in 1926. Many of his photographs are published in “Luci e Ombre” of 1933 and 1934. He is influenced by the fascist aesthetics and he takes photos for the tenth anniversary of the march on Rome in 1932. In the period 1934-1935 he taught at the Advanced Course of Photographic Culture. In the second half of the thirties he enrolled in the Photographic Group of the Circolo degli Artisti and participated in the VI Biennial International Exhibition of Artistic Photography at the Circolo.
