Description: Still Cove Journal, written by Gladys Taber (1899-1980), edited and with an introduction by Constance Taber Colby, and illustrated by Georgia Dearborn, is a 223 page, 5 3/4 X 8 1/2 inch hardcover book published by Harper & Row Publishers Inc., New York. The copyright date is 1981 and although this appears to be a second printing of the first edition (the printing number line on the copyright page starts with "2"), the lack of a price on the jacket indicates that this is a book club edition. The book is in very good condition in a very good minus dustjacket, with light brown boards, olive endpapers and brown spine titles. Synopsis - This book, published posthumously, contains a selection of Taber's weekly columns about life on the Cape that were published in the Cape Cod Oracle from 1978 to 1980. Arranged seasonally, the articles focus on the people, life and nature in and around Orleans, Massachusetts. Illustrated throughout with black and white drawings. Condition Details - The book has a square spine, a tight binding, and no tears, turned down page corners or writing. A paperclip has left an impression and light marks on the first few pages of the book. The cover has sharp corners with just a hint of shelfwear, no soil or stains. The textblock edges are clean and are not toned. The dustjacket (in new, protective Brodart) has light edgewear, a toned (yellowed) spine, and a two inch closed tear at the top of the rear panel.
