Description: Product characteristics 11.2 oz Faience, handmade in France Description The "Pont aux Choux" dinnerware is one of the classic designs of the Fayencerie de Gien. Radiating a wonderful ruby red colour, the faience dinner service creates a pleasant fresh atmosphere on every table. The name "Pont aux Choux" was inspired by a bridge in Paris. This led to a pottery which decorated its porcelain with a rice-corn pattern. In 1819, Gien's founder bought this manufactory, thereby acquiring the ownership of the rice-corn design. Since then, this collection, which comprises a number of different finishes, has been very successful. Faience is a fine, porous earthenware which is tin-glazed and then fired repeatedly. This thousand-year-old art of porcelain manufacture has been used by Gien since 1821. Gien is 100% Made in France. The manufactory controls every step of production, from the selection of raw materials to the mixing of colours. Every piece from Gien incorporates the knowledge of two hundred years of craftsmanship.
