Description: 1996 George St. Pierre Tie-Dyed Gibson Les Paul Guitar. The Gibson” Custom Art & Historic” Shop produced 103 of these rare tie dyed Guitars in 1996. 103 guitars were hand crafted in the Custom Shop by artist/craftsman, George St Pierre. He developed a technique in applying tie-dyed cloth finish over the entire body of a guitar.George St. Pierre worked at Gibson USA for over 5 years. He and his wife, had a small business making and printing tie-dyed apparel. While at Gibson George experimented with tie-dyed fabric and its application to the surface of a scrapped guitar body.George completed a prototype in October 1995 and presented it to Gibson USA CEO Henry Juszkiewicz . The following February Henry gave George the project of Designing and building 103 tie-dyed Les Paul guitars for introduction at the NAMM show. The response was resoundingly positive and all 103 guitars quickly found homes.
