Description: Description Gibson Acoustic Custom Shop / Historic Reissue Collection 1942 Banner J-45 Vintage Sunburst ≪S/N:22034014≫ A Custom Shop historic collection that reproduces "The Original Workhorse". This model truly brings the vintage J-45 back to life in the modern era. The J45 is a round-shoulder acoustic guitar that was born in 1942 as the successor to the J-35. This model has been loved by many musicians and guitarists to this day. It was named after the fact that it was sold for $45 at the time. The original J-45 reigned as the representative of round shoulders for 28 years after its birth. However, in 1970, it underwent a period of transformation, transforming into a square shoulder and long scale. Production ended in 1982, but it was revived in 1984 as the long-awaited "round shoulder and 24-3/4 inch scale". Made in Montana, USA (Custom Shop). The body is of course all solid wood, with "Adirondack red spruce" on the top and mahogany on the sides and back. The top is "thermally aged" to help reproduce the vintage sound! This new technology reproduces the characteristics of wood as it ages, the state in which the oil inside the wood is removed, and the state in which the wood itself becomes high quality. The top bracing is the familiar hand scalloped X-bracing, but the bracing material is also made of red spruce and is glued. The head also has a pre-war script logo and a banner head with "ONLY A GIBSON IS GOOD ENOUGH". This is the specification until around 1942-46. The pegs are triple Kluson type, which sounds lighter and louder than the recent J-45 standard that uses Grover's heavy pegs! The rosette is a white 3-ply 1-ring, the same as that used from 1945-63. The bridge is rectangular, an old specification from before it became a belly bridge around 1949! The saddle is a long saddle! The bridge pins are made of cow bone. The mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard with jumbo frets has a sturdy V-shape that is vintage-like. The number of frets is the "19 fret" specification, which was before it was changed to 20 frets around 1955. Also worth mentioning is the thin finish & VOS finish! It is finished much thinner (about half the thickness) than a normal lacquer gloss paint, and the VOS adds a vintage feel. Made in the USA. *The V.O.S. (Vintage Original Spec) series has a special surface coating that reduces shine, improves sound, and gives off a vintage feel. Even new products may have some signs of wear and tear, but this does not mean the product is defective.
