The skirt is wide at the hem and not meant to hang flat. Black sash included is probably not original. Loops at the sides that accommodate a belt up to 1.75” wide.It is from Ferre's '70s menswear phase, where he built femiinine silhouettes in fabrics traditionally used for mens clothing - shirts, suits, the like. Women, other than Greta Garbo, were just starting to tire of fussy couture. The more I look at it, the more I dislike the black sash. It detracts from the wonderful construction and lines. Will not be mistaken for new. But no damage, no holes, no weird trunk full of cigarettes smell. Not quite crisp but not a cotton that surrenders or needs a slip. At 6 feet, it looks gray but up close, a tiny high-contrast gingham style check. 36” around at the darts, 30” around the waist and 76” around hips and hem. A total of 36” long from nape to hem, and the nape to waist measures 16” - important if you’re short-waisted like me. 17” across the shoulders. I provide all this information so that you can get it and love it, so I hope you use it. Please ask any questions – that helps me write better listings. The sewing form measures 38-30-39, FYI.
