The book examines the case of a trio of lions responsible for killing 135 men building a rail line through Tsavo, Africa in 1898. The incident continued until the lions were stalked and killed by John H. Patterson of the British Army. The story was the basis for the hit movie "The Ghost and The Darkness". This softcover book is titled "Ghosts of Tsavo - Stalking the Mystery Lions of East Africa" by Philip Caputo. Inside the book's 275 pages all aspects of the lions reign of terror are covered including: the man-eater of Mfuwe, a visit to the Field Museum in Chicago where the lions are on display, the hunting of the beasts by Patterson, the reasons behind the attacks, and Tsavo's lions today.
