Description: This is a rare set of two different broadsides (single page playbills) with two clipped newspaper reviews from the Post-Broadway engagement of the GEORGE BERNARD SHAW classic "PYGMALION" at the Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. (The revival opened December 26th, 1945 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre in New York City and ran for 179 performances before going on the road.) ..... The two broadsides are from the weeks of November 25th, 1946 and May 5th, 1947 (return engagement). The play starred GERTRUDE LAWRENCE as "Eliza Doolittle" and DENNIS KING as "Henry Higgins" and featured CECIL HUMPHREYS, RALPH FORBES, KATHERINE EMMET, CYNTHIA LATHAM, MYRTLE TANNEHILL, LESLIE AUSTEN, DORA SAYERS, J. P. WILSON, JAMES TRUEX, JEFFREY POTTER, VELMA ROYTON, VICTORY ABBOTT and FENN GUERNSEY ..... DETAILS: The single page, two-sided programs measure approx. 6" X 9" inches, are printed on a newsprint stock and include full production credits, cast lists and synopsis of scenes, but no cast photos or bios ..... CONDITION: With the exception of the date written at the top of the 1946 broadside and a small spot on the right side of the 1947 broadside, this rare set is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. These items will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
