Description: Antique Original German M1898 n/A Bayonet. Measures 26" overall with a blade length of 20.75". n/A stands for "Newer Model" The first version of these bayonets had a one piece wood grips, but they were fragile, so they made a modification in 1902 and made two piece grips for each sides which this is. Ricasso stamped, "V.C. Schilling Suhl". Spine/top of blade shows cyphers along with a date of 1907. Excellent wood grips with cyphers on the rivets and on the pommel by the press-stud. Blade shows much original finish with some feathering/light sharpening. Leather and steel scabbard, very good with a tight crack on partial back area in front of chape. Excellent working press-stud. The bayonet sticks out just a little less than a quarter of an inch. The locket back area is stamped with regimental infantry markings, "B.12.R.4.34" See photos for further details.
