Description: A Rare European Estoc Sword 16th century The overall condition is excellent on this piece. The sword is extremely balanced. The hilt is comprised of a set of curved quillons, with a long pommel with spiral groves and a plate to protect the user’s hand. Interestingly on the reverse a catch plate to block the sliding blade, this large front and smaller back plate are inlaid with a copper or brass. This sword has the perfect counterweight to give it fantastic flexibility. The condition of the grip is excellent, this appears to be the original and has been well preserved. The blade is a typical estoc blade, with a thick-end triangular cross section which is hollow ground. Rarely seen!
