Description: This is a rare souvenir program from the one-week engagement of the GEORGE GERSHWIN, IRA GERSHWIN and DU BOSE HEYWARD American Folk Opera "PORGY AND BESS" in Rotterdam, Holland in April 1956. (The first European tour began October 9th, 1952 at London's Stoll Theatre. After five months of performances throughout Europe, the production returned to New York's Ziegfeld Theatre on March 10th, 1953 for 305 performances. The production then played a number of American cities followed in 1954 with an ambitious tour of South America, the Middle East and a second trip to Europe.) .....
