Description: The two clippings relate to Winston Churchill message of good wishes to the Wingate village. The village of Yemin Orde was named after the Chindit Major General, Orde Wingate, who was influential in the formation of the Israel Defence Force IDF. The creation of the village was made possible by contributions of £75000 raised by the Anglo-Jewish community - some raised by the Jewish community in Glasgow. Orde helped train Jewish villagers to defend themselves during the Arab troubles of 1936-39.
