Description: The history of Gem Craft jewelry began after the WWII, when Gene Verrecchia (Gene Verri) founded his own jewelry company in Providence, RI in 1945. He had previously worked as Coro’s lead designer for more than 30 years. Originally called Craftsman, then Sample Art, then Gem-Craft, he produced his own lines of jewelry as well as designed jewelry for famous jewelry companies and designers of the time. In particular for Oscar de la Renta, Kenneth Jay Lane, Capri, R. Mandle, Tancer, Kramer, and Cadoro. With his bright expressive designs, created mostly in the 1950-80s, the company flourished. All Gem-Craft pieces have a 'CRAFT' stamp with a copyright symbol since 1979. Gene Verri actively worked until his death at age 101 on December 30, 2013. This brooch, signed Craft with a copyright symbol on the reverse, exemplifies his skill and whimsical design sensibility. It features a large dimensional bumblebee with glossy black enamel wings, pave rhinestone accents, and a large, bright coral colored body. It is impressive and extraordinary. What a phenomenal gift for that special person in your life who loves insect pieces. The bee's face is composed of clear pave rhinestones with two bright green chatons for his eyes. The coral-colored, ribbed stone may be thermoplastic. Measures just under 3 inches wide wing tip to wing tip and just under 2 inches long. Condition is excellent. The locking 'C' clasp closes securely and the gold tone and all rhinestones are shiny and bright. Please review all photos closely. They are the best attempt to convey condition.I ship same day or next day and package with thought and care :o)
