Description: This vintage "trompe l’oeil" covered terrine is in excellent condition. It was manufactured by Pillivuyt, a French porcelain company established 200 years ago. The sculpted lid is made to look like a baked pastry crust with the entire terrine resembling a "pate en croute." There are two small holes in the lid designed to release steam while cooking. These terrines are highly collectable. The bird on top is hand-painted with exceptional detail. It is a “Perdix” which translates as “Partridge.” They come in several sizes with different birds or rabbits on the lid. This one is large and measures measures 8 7/8” long and 5½" tall. It stamped “3" on the underside along with the "Piillivuyt Made in France" logo. Happy to answer questions or send more pictures. Will ship internationally at cost.Problem?
