BIOGRAPHYFred Schonberger born in Holland in 1930, received his artistic training primarily in Arnhem, Holland, and furthered his studies in Florence, Rome and Paris. After coming to Canada in 1957, he was awarded many competitions and in 1964 received the "Grand Prix" in painting in the Salon Aux Printemps, Quebec. He has had many one man shows including Tyghesen, Toronto; Wallack's Galleries, Ottawa; Queen's University, Kingston; Delos Gallery, Montreal; and was included in the Ontario Arts Council show "Nine Kingston Artists" 1968-69. Fred Schonberger is a former president of the Kingston Artist's Workshop; Director and Organizer of the Children's Art Program; former executive member of the Gallery Association of the Etherington Art Centre in Kingston. Fred Schonberger is represented by Wallack's Art Galleries and the St. Laurent Art Centre in Ottawa; Eaton's Fine Art Gallery, College Street, Toronto; the Rye Cove Gallery, Halifax; Parkview Galleries, Niagara Falls; and Peterborough Art Gallery. Fred Schonberger's paintings and sculptures are included at the Agnes Etherington Art Centre of Queen's University since 1964 and is a member of the Society of Canadian Artists.
