Later, the Model 1917, then Model 1918 Armor-Piercing cartridges were adopted for both ground and air use Developmental work continued in the 1920s on various types of bullets for the armor-piercing cartridge, resulting in adoption of the Model 1922 in January of 1922. This cartridge continued in use until the early 1930s. The rapid development of foreign armored vehicles in the 1930s led to the development and adoption in May1934 of the "M1 High Velocity Armor Piercing Cartridge", later dropping the "High Velocity" nomenclature in May 1935. The M1 cartridge was finally replaced by the more reliable and easier to produce M2 Armor-Piercing cartridge in August 1939.Each "Buy It Now" single purchase is for 2 unassembled cartons with dividers and labels. The Frankford Arsenal label has the unique Ordnance Dept. blue and yellow stripes, which identified the contents as armor-piercing ammunition, and a lot number matching an original. The cartons, dividers, and labels will be shipped flat, with assembly instructions.
