Frank H Jump- Photographs - That Devious Smith

Description: This vivid Cibachrome print captures the richness of the late 90s graffiti art in Harlem, NYC. Already an accepted art form established by the likes of Basquiat and Haring, these stylized murals were viewed as a beautification, rather than urban defacement. The colorful floral abstract on the left juxtaposed with the blue face of That Devious Smith on the right provides a lively contrast that catches the eye. ABOUT THE ARTIST: Frank H. Jump conceived The Fading Ad Campaign as a photographic project documenting vintage mural ads on building brick faces in New York City spanning nearly a century. It has become a metaphor for survival since, like the artist, many of these ads have long outlived their expected life span. Although this project doesn?t deal directly with HIV/AIDS, it is no accident Jump has chosen to document such a transitory and evanescent subject. Of the countless ads Jump has photographed, many have already been covered up, vandalized, or destroyed. But still many silently cling to the walls of buildings, barely noticed by the rushing passersby. Jump is a retired NYC educator and his work has been exhibited throughout the last 30 years from the N-Y Historical Society to venues in Brooklyn and as far as Athens Greece during the Summer Olympics in 2006. This unique and captivating photograph captures the essence of urban street art with its vibrant colors and bold graffiti. The skilled photographer, Frank H Jump, expertly captures the subject matter in a way that truly brings it to life. This one-of-a-kind piece is a must-have for any art collector or enthusiast. The production technique, CIBACHROME, is utilized to create a stunning visual display that is sure to impress. The photograph is from the time period of 1990-1999 and highlights the theme of graffiti. The subject matter is truly captivating and will be a great addition to any art collection.
