From the Cretaceous period. 6 1/2 inches long x 5 inches wide x 2 1/2 thick or high. These oysters lived on the sea bed floor in shallow waters. Sometimes the fossils in large colonies and if lucky, they will fossilize as mortality plate or slab with multiple specimens. Relatively scarce. The fossils consist of two valves. One side is larger toenail shaped shell and they other half is a smaller, flattened shell or "lid". The animal lives between the two lids. Mortality Plate Slab is heavy and will have to be shipped in at least a medium priority box.
