Description: Vintage Wooden Play FortVero - East Germany After the Second World War, GDR (the German Democratic Republic) was established in the Soviet-controlled portion of Germany. With the country governed under the principles of Communism, 1966 saw the forced collectivisation of countless small family businesses. The VERO combine was created as part of this process, and became the largest toy manufacturer in East Germany. VERO's activities were centred around the area of the Ore mountains, an area with a rich heritage of making wooden toys. After the re-unification of Germany in 1990, many companies were re-privatised and given back to the families who founded them, ensuring that the craftsmanship of the workers from the Ore mountains still continues today, with companies such as Auhagen, which is one of the most successful model-making manufacturers in Europe. This fort probably dates from around the 1950s, or possibly early 1960s, based on the style and construction of the box. Set contains enough pieces to make a variety of configurations. Just add a child's imagination to re-create the days of the Wild West! (Note - set does NOT include any figures). Excellent pre-owned condition, in original box. Box has minor wear and a couple of marks where tape has been removed, but is structurally sound, with no serious rips or splits, and no taped-up corners. Contents are excellent and look like they have rarely, if ever, been out of the box. See photos - all photos show actual item.
