First published in twenty parts from 1847-9 by F. G. Moon, designed to be bound in three volumes, each with title page. This edition is reprinted from the First Edition in the John Rylands Library at the University of Manchester. Roberts (1796-1864), the Scottish painter, produced exquisite works depicting temples, ruins and landscapes from his extensive tours overseas, which were understandably hugely popular with the British public.
