Description: A mass of crystalline sphalerite lies within a good-sized chunk of willemite & calcite. There are areas of franklinite as well, making this both a daylight and UV specimen. The sphalerite fluoresces orange in longwave. The willemite fluoresces green in shortwave and the calcite is fluorescent purple under shortwave and longwave. Photos 1-5 are under longwave. Photos 6-9 were taken under shortwave UV. Collected at the Sterling Hill Mine in Ogdensburg, NJ. Size: 5-1/4" x 3-1/2" x 2". Weight is 2 lbs. 6 oz. or 1070 grams. You must have a 365nm longwave UV lamp or a 254nm shortwave UV lamp to properly view the fluorescent response of this specimen. I always combine shipping whenever possible. All UV photos are taken under a 70-watt Engenious Designs Nightstick. A flashlight will not give the same response. I ship by 2-day or 3-day USPS Priority Mail. I carefully pad and pack each item securely in a cardboard mailing box. I do not offer a gift box or gift wrapping. I include a label and/or any old labels with each mineral specimen.
