Description: This kit contains enough fiber(4oz) to make a hat for a child or adult, a drop spindle to spin the yarn, and a loom to knit the hat. You need to decide if it is going to be for a child or adult, and if you want to use Alpaca or Wool. Both fibers have advantages. Both are soft with Alpaca fiber being much softer than Texel Wool. On the other hand Texel Wool is much easier to spin and has great warm when wet qualities. The wool is white and the Alpaca is fawn. Both the Loom and Drop Spindle Kit come with very good instructions. We also encourage to go to You Tube and look at some of the instructional vidios. The wool and alpaca are skirted, pre-washed followed by opening, tumbling, hand picking of vegetable matter, two washes, two rinses and carding into roving. No harsh chemicals are used in the cleaning of the fleece. This fiber is NOT superwashed. A Stonehedge picker and carder process the washed fleece. This GORGEOUS roving is from animals in Maryland and processed in Maryland. If you make a garment from this fiber, you will need to wash it before wearing it since we use a detergent to control static in Carding.
