Trader-BOB's MUSIC offers a good F. E. Olds & Son, Fullerton California, model 0-48, "Geyer Style", double French horn. It has come to my attention, that this horn is made from "Nickel Silver" and not common "Yellow Brass" My apologies to anyone, for doing this, but I want to be accurate in my listing descriptions. Looking at all the areas, internally that I can access, there is no yellow brass showing. None of the tuning slide inner tubes are yellow brass. The area on the bell with the external patch, has all been polished upon completing the repairs, definitely not yellow brass. From the internet;Opens in new tabSome F.E. Olds French horns are made from nickel silver, including the Intermediate, Double, and Single models: "Nickel silver is an alloy that's similar to brass but has at least 10% nickel added, which gives it a silver color. It's the hardest metal used for French horns and produces a bright sound. Because of this, it's usually used on large horns to balance out the sound. Nickel silver is also very dent resistant.""F.E. Olds is known for pioneering the use of nickel silver tubing for slides, as well as other innovations in band instruments." Serial number 400220, March, or April 1962. March 1962 started with the number 400000. Maybe played in a high school band, picture number 5 shows an inscription. Wear marks, minor dents, one patched spot. F or Bb, unknown. 12" bell diameter. Four rotary valves, all operate freely. Nine tuning slides all work fine. Should be a player, right out of the box, (case). Comes in a very nice, Conn Soloist French Horn Hard Case. Read my feedback, buy with confidence!
