Description: This is a gorgeous and artistic Fenton egg with a great handpainted “holly” decoration. The color is pure White Satin Milk Glass, popular in the 70s. The decoration is holly— perfect for the holdiays, and includes frit — small pieces of glass, ground and melted into the paint — to give the decoration depth and texture. Fenton made this item as part of its egg series in the mid 1970s. This particular item is signed by the artist with a date of June 1972 — suggesting that it was a sample of an item that eventually made it into the regular line. My inventory number is B37T. Fenton’s ware number is 5140 DH. Good, factory condition. No chips or cracks. The egg measures about 3.5 inches tall. The last picture is from Fenton's 1974 catalog, showing an egg like this one.
