Description: 2008 Fender Custom Shop 1965 Stratocaster Relic A classic model from a time that Relic instruments were much more scarce coming from the Custom Shop. Beautiful nitrocellulose lacquer in Shoreline Gold with a nice blend of Relic treatment and what looks like honest wear, a tasteful amount of dings and dents throughout. Subtle lacquer checking on select areas of the body. Nicely tinted lacquer over the slightly flame maple neck, with the pearl dots that were standard in 1965. I would estimate the fretboard radius is 7.25", as this was standard at that time, and the frets are vintage style with little to no wear. Has the classic mid 60's Fender neck shape that borders between a "D" and "C" profile. Currently setup with 10-46 gauge strings, the action is sitting at approximately 1mm on the high E to 1.5mm on the low E at the twelfth fret. Vintage wiring: middle tone for neck pickup, back tone for middle pickup, and no tone control for the bridge pickup. The instrument is in overall excellent condition, with some natural wear that nicely accentuates the Relic job from Fender. The is a spot of buckle rash/worming on the back on the edge of the backplate nearest the neck. There are some scratches and dings on the back of the neck between frets 9 and 12 that may not have been part of the relic treatment, although they have little to no texture and do not effect the feel and playability. The middle pickup cover has a slight crack between the low E and A pole pieces. The tremolo arm is slightly bent on the threading, but screws in with a slight bit of effort. A nicely aged look that will get better as you play and gig the guitar.
