Description: A friend of mine asked me to list this vintage bass in my online shops to give it maximum exposure. Here is the history of this vintage instrument. It was purchased in 1975 from Gattuso Music in Canton, Ohio. They had a recording studio as part of the business and the bass was used as the in-house bass for most of their clients. My friend used it as his main bass until the late 1980's. At that time he decided it was too valuable to for everyday use, so he retired it and it has been in the case in a climate controlled environment ever since so the bass has been protected from variances in temperature and humidity. As you can see from the pictures the bass shows that it was used, but the body is solid and the neck is straight. The frets are in good shape. Here is the history of this vintage instrument. It was purchased in 1975 from Gattuso Music in Canton, Ohio. They had a recording studio as part of the business and the bass was used as the in-house bass for most of their clients. My friend used it as his main bass until the late 1980's. At that time he decided it was too valuable to keep playing it for everyday use, so he retired it and it has been in the case in a climate controlled environment ever since. He has a large collection of instruments that are kept in the same space, so the bass has been protected from variances in temperature and humidity. As you can see from the pictures the bass shows that it was used, but the alder body is solid and the soft "V" shaped maple neck is straight. The patina shines through for a bass over 60 years old. The frets are in good shape, it has always been played with flat wound strings so there is little wear on them. Weighing in at 9.1 pounds it is very comfortable to play. The only non-original parts are the pick guard and Bad Ass bridge, which was replaced before my friend purchased the bass, all other parts are original. For an instrument that is over 60 years old it is in excellent shape, you could take it to a gig today and play it. I would give it a rating of excellent. The exterior of the case is battered from use but is still solid and protects the bass very well.
