Unlike the modern hyenas, which are primarily scavengers, Chasmaporthetes were more adapted to active predation and fast running. Its ecological niche is resembles wolf, more or less. ### Key Characteristics:- **Adaptations for Running:** Chasmaporthetes are often referred to as "running hyenas" because of their limb adaptations that suggest they were capable of running down prey, similar to cheetahs or wolves.- **Geographic Range:** Fossils have been found across North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa, indicating they were widespread.
