A patriotic scene of a Naval Monument dedicated to Naval heroes of the War of 1812. The view is after a drawing by R. Penniman, engraved by W.B. Annin. The drawing was later published by Abel Bowen in 1816 as the frontispiece for his book, "Naval Monument." Basin Approx. 4"H X 12"W, Pitcher 9"H Provenance: Pitcher from the Routson Collection. Collection was assembled over a period of more than 40 years, the collection consisted of more than 1,000 pieces and was considered one of the finest collections of American Historical Views on transferware. Condition: Excellent condition, pitcher-rub to tip of handle, kiln crack to base, Bowl-glaze flake to bottom, chip to table rim, discoloration, 3 tight hairlines to rim, otherwise minor imperfections to be expected otherwise minor imperfections to be expected with age.
