Description: A fantastic antique 19th Century oil on stretched canvas portrait of a young man. I think this is a Hungarian painting based on the old label in Hungarian on the back which is a customs document so the painting was either coming in or going out of Hungary. I purchased this in 1998 from a high end gallery in Little Neck New York which specialized in antique European art which was brought back from Europe by the owner years ago. This painting looks to be relined and is signed and dated upper left. An eBay member notified me that it is signed “Valler 1877” as I could not decipher the signature and date myself. Frame is not old as it was framed for me back in 1998 by the gallery it was purchased in. Measures approx. 12 1/2” X 15 1/2” sight and with frame 19 1/2” X 22 1/2”. Painting in good vintage condition with a small amount of paint loss near the bottom. Frame is newer and in very good condition. This is extremely well done and I would think it is by a listed artist and is in need of more research. Shipping will be $29.99 by insured USPS with tracking.
