Extremely RARE FLYLYTE Trout Net LAKE PLACID NY Fly Fishing Antique Adirondack

Description: I have been the proud owner of this incredible net for about 20 years. Over that time it has hung in my office/tying room but, alas, it is time to downsize and get some of my things to others who will cherish them. The rubber grip, which I believe is original, is cracked and deteriorated a bit. It is not sticky to the touch and is not actively losing more pieces. The wood is in great condition. The netting is very nice but there are a few places where the netting is stiffer and darker than the rest. I believe these places were coated with a glue or varnish to seal knots or joints in the line. A piece of rawhide (I think) runs across the open end of the net to which the netting is attached. I have included a ruler in some photos to indicate size but it is roughly 21" x 13". The original decal/label is still firmly attached! I don't know how to date it but I think it is fair to say it was probably made in the early third of the 1900s - the heyday of the fishing lodges in the Adirondacks. The net will be shipped well protected in a large flat box. I ship only in the U.S. Buyer pays USPS GROUND ADVANTAGE (Standard/Economy) postage. A couple of other notes if you'd like to read them: Our home is smoke free and pet free. That said, it doesn't mean that the items I sell have never had a passing relationship with some sort of odor. If I notice it I will state it in the description. If you can smell someone in Wyoming light a cigarette while you are driving east across Tennessee, you might notice an odor I don't. (I have actually had someone ask if I could certify that the box, tape and packing material I use were odor free (I can't).) I do the best I can to honestly describe what I sell.
