Excellent Vintage "ROCK GARDEN" CHINTZ cup & saucer by "SHELLEY" FINE BONE CHINA

Description: ANTIQUE COLLECTOR'S CUP AND SAUCER MANUFACTURED BY "SHELLEY" FINE BONE CHINA ENGLAND "ROCK GARDEN" CHINTZ PATTERN, "Carlisle" shape; I believe pattern # 13434. This elegant, beautiful, white bone china teacup and saucer set was manufactured by Shelley in Staffordshire England. The exterior of the cup and top of the saucer are decorated with colorful floral transfer-ware cottage garden scene; beautiful yellow, pink, white and blue flowers with green foliage scattered about a rock garden. Inside of the cup is bright white; there is gold gilt trim around saucer rim and cup rim; double gold gilt trim on the footed cup base; and additional gilt decoration on the handle. Approximate Measurements: Teacup height = 2 7/8", Width (without handle) = 3 1/4", Width (with handle) = 4", Saucer width = 5 1/2". EXCELLENT vintage condition and is very clean. As the photos show, the colors and the design are bright and beautiful. The back of each piece is marked in green "FINE BONE CHINA" "Shelley" inside a shield in an elaborate script, "ENGLAND", SEE PHOTOS. I can not find any cracks, crazing or repairs. The set would be a wonderful addition for "Shelley" collectors or those those that collect teacups & saucers. My research found that Shelley first appeared on English ceramics about 1912. The company started as Foley China Works in 1860. Joseph Ball Shelley became a partner in 1872 and Percy Shelley joined the firm in 1881. In 1910 Foley China became Shelley China; in 1929 it became Shelley Potteries. The company was acquired in 1966 by Allied English Potteries, then merged with the Doulton group in 1971. Items are from my mother's estate and are in as-is vintage / antique estate or pre-owned condition unless stated otherwise.
