This piece of folk art tells a story in words and picture and is all hand painted directly onto the tin.The retablo shows a bull chasing a woman and man. The Virgin is looking down on the scene.The words are loosely translated as follows:“Thanks to the Little Virgin of the Solitude, for saving us from our neighbor’s bull that chased us around the corral. s/ Ines y Juan, Oax 1965.”The tin is painted with dark background and pops of color and is done in a primitive style. The tin sign measures 8-1/2 inches across x 6-1/8 inches in height. There is a small hole at the top with a string attached – all ready for you to hang.The back of the tin is rusty and scratched, as the artist used a piece of scrap tin to create the piece. The tin is a little warped and does not lie totally flat on a surface.This is an original piece of artwork, bought from the artist's representative in Mexico City. The date of creation is not known as the artists who do this type of work sometimes use a historic date to show context for the scene created.
