Description: Ertl 1973 Mach1 Black Chrome Chase Car new in box. Description below why it is a chase car. Back in the day when stores carried 1/1 Ertls, they would make a car that was polished metal and not painted. It looked like chrome, but it was just polished. They also had a black-chrome and just painted silver paint versions later one. Since these were 3%-5% of the total run, they became more valuable so we would "chase" each other to see who would find it on the shelf. They were randomly inserted in cases with no more than one per case. Eventually several the "chase" cars became cars with different interiors or wheels.
