Description: ENTER WITHOUT KNOCKING by Daniel Moore - AZ State Prison Guard - 1st Edition/1st Printing -Hardcover w/dust jacket. Published by The University of Arizona Press in 1969. 261 pages (including index). Richly illustrated with black and white photos. Enter Without Knocking is an insightful account of prison culture from Daniel Moore, drawn from his experiences as an Arizona State Prison Guard from 1938-1948. He discusses the drama and trials and tribulations of prison life - both for prisoner and guard. Stories of prisoner escape plans (some successful!) the never ending search for contraband like weapons and drugs. All aspects of prison life covered - the pathetic, the dreary, the humorous, and both the humane and inhumane. Condition: FINE/VERY GOOD The book is in beautiful FINE (near mint) condition with a slight tear to rear red endpaper (see picture) else fine. The unclipped dust jacket is VERY GOOD - rubbing, some spots of color fading, light edge wear, a few small tears, rear flap fold. Overall, an excellent collectible copy and the nicest I’ve found.
