Description: Electrified Brass Parlor Lamp by Angelo Brothers Company Dimensions: Height of brass lamp body 20” Base 6.5” x 6.5” 33.5” to top of chimney. Date manufactured: Uncertain. The design of this electric lamp was inspired by Victorian oil parlor lamps, and manufactured sometime after 1981 when the Angelo Brothers Company added lighting fixtures to their product line. The lamp is well-made and in very good condition. It needs a keen-eyed home designer who has a flair for combining vintage era style with contempory or traditional home furnishings. Some History: This electrified parlor style lamp, with an Angelo Brothers Company sticker on the underside, is a lovely piece. The multi-generational Angelo Brothers Company was founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1946, and was a hugely successful small, family-owned business. They were primarily a wholesaler of lamp parts through the 40s, 50s, and into the 60s. People back then did their own lighting repair. The company successfully navigated growth and placement of a wide range of products beyond lighting parts during the emergence of the box store chains of the hardware/home center industry of the 70s. In 1981 lighting fixtures were added to their product line. By 1998 ceiling fans were added, and in 1999 Angelo Brothers secured an exclusive license to market light bulbs under the Westinghouse brand. In 2003 they rebranded as Westinghouse Lighting Corporation. In 2021 the Angelo family celebrated their 75th anniversary. This lamp was designed in the spirit of an Victorian parlor oil lamp, some may say it's a reproduction, nonetheless it’s a good quality and a very attractive table lamp.
