Many are from early performances when revisions were common and include song titles that were cut before opening in New York. (See cut songs below.) ....... This is a rare January 8th, 1929 program (playbill) from the five-night, Pre-Broadway engagement of the BARRY TOWNLY, MONTE CARLO and ALMA M. SANDERS musical comedy "THE CHIFFON GIRL" at the Providence Opera House in Providence, Rhode Island. (The Original Broadway production would open February 19th, 1924 at the Lyric Theatre in New York City, move to Jolson's 59th Street Theatre on March 3rd, 1924 and the Central Theatre on May 5th, 1924, running for a combined 103 performances.) ..... CUT SONGS: The list of musical numbers includes "Back In My Tumble Down Shack" and "Flirtation" which were cut out-of-town ..... CONDITION: (Please Note!) There are surface abrasions and edge chipping, stains at the top seam and the top right corner, soiling to the back cover and moderate edge wear. Despite these flaws, this rare program will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
