Description: The Grumman F-14 Tomcat is an American carrier capable supersonic, twin engine, two seat, twin tail, variable sweep wing jet fighter aircraft. The F-14 first flew on 21 December 1970. The first F-14 deployment was in 1974 with the United States Navy aboard USS Enterprise. The F-14 served as the USN's primary maritime air superiority fighter into the 2000's. The Tomcat was retired by the U.S. Navy on 22 September 2006. They were replaced with the Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet. This aircraft was assigned to Squadron VF-11 Sluggers / "Red Rippers" at various times aboard aircraft carrier's USS George Washington, USS John F. Kennedy and the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. In 1980 the "Red Rippers " began transferring to the F-14A Tomcats. The F-14's final flights were in 2005 when they transitioned to the FA-18F Super Hornet. The Tomcat was the star aircraft of the 1986 movie "Top Gun". This Easy Model 1:72 scale resin Grumman F-14B Tomcat is a highly detailed reproduction of the famous Tomcat. It has detailed landing gear and a full assortment of armament and external fuel tanks. The model has variable sweeping wings. The box has damage incurred during shipping. The approximate dimensions are: 10.25" long with a 10.75" wingspan (extended). All sales are final. Shipping to the USA only. NOTE: This is a rare model and is difficult to find. The box has substantial damage incurred during shipment. I will make sure the model is prepared for safe shipping. This model originally did not come with pilot figures. I had two 1:72 scale pilot figures I am including with the purchase. The canopy is fixed, but with care it could be loosened to include placement of the pilots. This is the only one available.
