Description: This is an early British Sterling Single live steam locomotive. It has a really nice heavy cast brass frame, and brass boiler and fittings. Locos like this are often attributed to Steven’s Model Dockyard, although there were many companies making locomotives in this style in the late 19th century and early 20th century. It looks as though it was never completed because there is no burner or steam lines coming from the boiler. The cylinders and wheels all move freely, but one screw is missing that holds the end of one rod into the piston. It displays nicely and is a great looking early engine. It is 3” gauge/gauge 4, which was a common gauge around the turn of the last century, although this was most likely made as a floor runner anyway.
