Description: Offered for sale is an extremely nice Bert Graves Style Mallard Drake Decoy by Jim Slack (1941 - present) of Pekin, Illinois. This particular example is hollowed and has beautiful thick swirled paint that is very nicely blended especially on the back (please see photos 3 & 5). The decoy measures approximately 17 inches long and 7.5 inches high. "G.B. Graves Decoy Co. Peoria, Ill." is cast into the lead (photo 11). Comb vermiculation is present on the sides and base (close-up photo 12). The speculums have very thick purple paint where the brush strokes can still be seen (photo 8). I am guessing this decoy was completed in the 1980's and is in all original paint without touch-up. Jim Slack signs many of his decoys, but this example is unsigned.
