DOC EVANS 78 - Disc # 38 -- SENSATION RAG + At the Jazz Band Ball

Description: Disc 10-inch 78 RPM record No. 6072 is "Sensation Rag" and "At the Jazz Band Ball", by the Doc Evans Ensemble, listed on the label as Doc Evans, Ed Hubble, Tony Parenti, Joe Sullivan and George Wettling. The labels also give the recording date as April 25, 1947. It was issued too late for inclusion in Brian Rust's Hot Jazz Discography (cutoff date 1942), but it is also strangely missing from Charles Delaunay's "New Hot Discography", which lists Disc #'s 6073, 6074 and 6075, all with the same line-up but recorded a day later, on April 26, 1947. The record looks to be in about VG to VG+ condition, still nice and shiny, but with some visible surface scuffs and scratches and dull spots. Both sides play through without jumping or repeating on my Audio-Technica turntable, but with some light background noise throughout, including some scattered pops and clicks and ticking or swishing.
