She argues that much of the language in this passage has been mistranslated and shows how translations reflect the negative views of magic in Christian European culture, as well as the role of gender in this misinterpretation and mistranslation, as the woman of Endor is minimized, dismissed, or labeled as a witch, revealing how these negative views were passed on to African culture through the colonial period. She provides new translations of 1 Samuel 28 in English, French, and Kisanga, that are faithful to the original text and better for the African pro-divinatory Christian context and an inculturated African Christian hermeneutic, theology, and praxis.
