REVIEWS 👇: Adumbro Adumbro (Review Fanatic, L6, Intermediate) Dec 25 2021 6:21AM My Flight Ratings 12/5/-1/3Not Beginner Friendly This review is for the stock Innova produced S-line DD3, and not for CB1s, CB2s, or Discmania made DD3s. The DD3 is a "Destroyer class" max distance driver. It is not a beginner disc. Don't try to learn on this, or the only thing you will learn to do is to throw with a forced turnover. Once you get to the 400ft area, these are a great 12, 5, -1, 3 driver. They're all kind of crazy OS brand new. You really have to season them pretty well to get that exceptional flight. It's a thing of beauty once your form is there, and the disc is perfectly broken in. I love these for super long flex lines past 400ft, or Hyzer shots under 400 depending on what the course calls for. I like the feel in the hand of the DD3 compared to other similar discs. I have fairly large hands with long skinny fingers. It is definitely high speed. So if you aren't quite able to make the line you want, maybe bump down a little in speed or up in glide to a CD3 (Discmania's Wraith like disc) or an Enigma ( a glide-ier flippy-er DD3...sorty of). Similar discs are the Destroyer, Emperor, Scorpius (allegedly an old Destroyer mold), Zeus, and D1/D2 depending on the run. There is a decent variance in different stock DD3s and their flat/dominess, stability, fade, and sometimes even the feel of the plastic. This is the only reason I have it as a 4 star disc. Personal anecdote- One of the best discs I've ever bagged was a white stock S-Line DD3 (Innova made). I loved this disc, and it was my max distance driver. For whatever reason this thing had insane glide. I threw a super long drive, so long that it blasted past the basket into a river. I looked and found another just like it down to the stamp color. Once it broke in it was exactly the same. Until I lost that one. I can't find the same one again, but have many other DD3s in pink, blue, red, yellow, and even white. They're all more OS to varying degrees. I haven't quite found that another to replace my early white DD3 with teal stamp. Keep in mind I only throw about 330 max consistently. Had a reliable fade for me. For bigger arm friends it has slight turn but then consistent fade. Can't wait for Innova to come out with it again so I don't have to pay an arm and a leg for misprints even. S line plastic is very grippy as it is very similar to innova star plastic. Flight - The 2 DD3s that I have are a bit more overstable than the destroyer. I really enjoy this fact as it seems to be ever more difficult to find destroyers that are overstable enough to not turn. I love the dd3 for shots that aren't super overstable but won't turn and still has good glide. When I need a controlled distance shot, this is what I'm reaching for as it still goes far but is more consistent. Overall - Not sure if all dd3s fly like mine do but I love that the dd3s are a bit more overstable than most destroyers matthewmcgregor matthewmcgregor (Review Master, L10, Intermediate) Oct 1 2020 9:03PM My Flight Ratings 12/5/-1/3Somewhat Beginner Friendly Maybe it's just a placebo effect going on for me, but for some reason I am much more consistent with a dd3 in my hands when compared to a destroyer. The flight path and flight numbers are supposed to be similar, but I just throw discmanias version of the disc more consistently. I do enjoy throwing destroyers, but whenever I am having an off day with them I grab this disc and can always count on it, especially in head wind. The disc is what I want the destroyer to be. The placebo for me may just be with discmania because I am loving every disc I've thrown from them. I have the S-Line dd3 at 168 grams. I always count on this disc. When I try to bomb this backhand, it takes a very good anhyzer shot but it is certainly attainable with this disc. The forehand shots are always reliable for me as well and always dump overstable after some pretty good glide. Backhand hyzer shots are useful in situations I need a spike hyzer or wide hyzer shot. All in all, this disc is great and definitely can be manipulated to aid someone's game tremendously. However, the only time I recommend a beginner throwing this is on flick shots or at a very light weight (which I don't even know is available). Great disc! (At least 450) The -1 turn becomes very apparent when you really torque up on it. If you throw it on a little hyzer it will flip up to flat and have a nice s curve and dump at the end. If thrown flat it will hold right for about 70% of the flight then dump at the end. Would 100% recommend if you are looking for a new max distance driver. In my bag, I throw an Infinite Discs Pharaoh or an old Destroyer for my absolute max distance shots. However, I have found myself reaching for the DD3 whenever there's some headwind present. My other two discs don't hold up to the headwind nearly as well. As many have pointed out, this disc is not going to be a max distance driver for middle-of-the-pack arms, but it can still be useful for people with that sort of arm speed. But don't expect it to be flippy like Eagle and Simon make it look! Then I got an S-line DD3 from a Discmania Mystery Box and was completely shocked at how much more manageable it was. The discs are identical in shape, weight, stiffness, and dominess, but for some reason the DD3 is just not as overstable as the Cloud Breakers. I've got a Z Force, this S-line DD3, and a Fuzion Trespass at the top end of my bag, and I have a feeling once this DD3 breaks in sufficiently, it will bump the Trespass out when I add a fresh DD3. It's a great disc, and I'm very glad I got it in that mystery box since I wouldn't have tried it based on my experience with the Cloud Breaker. It is grippy, the rim is very comfortable, and the disc has some dome, but is not pop toppy. I rated the discs with a turn of 0 as its out-of-the-box flight rarely demonstrates any turn. Thrown flat at full power, the DD3 will travel straight and fast, I cannot get the DD3 to demonstrate too much high speed turn, but may turn a little. The fade came a lot earlier and a lot harder than I had anticipated. That being said, the DD3 will still get me past the 400ft mark consistently, but is not the furthest flying disc in my bag, and probably won't be until it beats in a little. The main characteristics that sells me on the DD3 are the comfortable feel in the hand, and the tight and predicable flight. The DD3 has a tight flight, with the predictable fade that allows you to get desirable flights out of the disc, even in the woods. It also is the furthest flying disc in my bag because of the reliable fade at the end of the flight. Many people would choose the Innova Destroyer over these because of the popularity that the destroyer has, but destroyers tend to have different flights vary for each disc. Most of the DD3 that I've used are very similar to each other and I can count on them having a consistent flight toward each disc. My go to distance drivers for max distance. I bag 2 under Defenders. I dont quite have 1 to be my most understable driver yet but working on it. With these you can only bag 2 distance driver. Compareable to the Kong/Zeus a tad bit more overstable. For slower arms might be all the stability you need. This is my favorite distance driver ever made! I love the feel of swirly S line plastic, and I love a far flying disc! I find these to be great for my arm speed, I can throw them up to 500 but more towards 425 on average. Many people will say that these are just destroyers, BUT, in my opinion this are a consistent run comparable to some destroyers. For eagle and Simon, they're understable, for the Intermediate and advanced level, this is an absolute bomber! I have many of these and in different weights. I love throwing these forehand and backhand when I'm really trying to achieve the most distance as possible. Terry McCoy Terry McCoy (Review Guru, L12, Intermediate) Jan 15 2020 9:27PM My Flight Ratings 12/5/-1/2Neutral Discmania's DD3 seems to be yet another disc modeled after Innova's Destroyer. Seeing as how Discmania's discs are made by Innova, the resemblance is unmistakable. Holding a Destroyer and DD3 up to each other I was unable to discern any differences. My DD3 is regular S line (not a Cloudbreaker), 175g. The disc has a noticeable dome, much larger than most star Destroyers. Honestly, this particular DD3 flies better than 99% of star Destroyers I've tried. The DD3 has a perfect amount of high speed turn, which results in some brilliant S curve bombs. The disc also has just enough late fade to bring it back late in flight. The glide is excellent, and the flex/fade part of the flight is more prolonged with the DD3 than with a Destroyer. Basically it has a MUCH less dumpy late fade. Distance is superb. I was getting a solid 430' out of the DD3, which is as much or more than my best star Destroyer shots. Overall, the DD3 is outstanding. For me it flies like a gently beat in star Destroyer. It holds the high speed turn for a long time without being flippy. It flexes out for big distance before gently fading late. This disc is a great option for guys who want to throw a Destroyer, but want something just a tiny bit mellower. The DD3 is exactly such a disc. I found the DD3 good for shots in the 375-400' range. Its an accurate driver that can easily slide into anyone's bag in place of a Destroyer. Discmania got this one right.
